For Alabama. For You. For Democracy
Building Alabama's future through collaboration, not division. Join independent voices committed to democratic values and practical problem-solving. See About Us.
We believe in democratic governance above all else. While we may disagree on specific policies, we unite around the fundamental principle that power belongs to the people, not to extremes or special interests.
The Yellowhammer Party welcomes diverse voices and perspectives. We don't demand ideological purity; we ask for commitment to democratic values, respect for democratic processes, and rejection of authoritarianism in all forms.
Solutocracy means evaluating ideas by their results, not their party labels. We bring together independent thinkers who focus on solving Alabama's real problems through evidence, collaboration, and accountability.
The Yellowhammer Party is Alabama's home for independent candidates and voters who believe democracy works best when we collaborate across differences. We're not a national party – we're your neighbors, committed to Alabama's future.
Here's our dividing line: If you support MAGA and the current version of the Republican Party that embraces authoritarianism, then run as a Republican. If you reject that path, then you can run as a Yellowhammer.
We welcome conservatives, libertarians, progressives, and everyone in between that are committed to democratic governance over authoritarian impulses. We also reject extreme left authoritarianism, though in Alabama, the immediate threat to democracy comes primarily from the MAGA movement.
We don't fight culture wars. We focus on solving real problems for Alabama families. Our candidates come from different backgrounds and hold varied policy positions, but they share a commitment to:
Evidence-based policymaking over performative politics and the "culture war"
Rejecting MAGA authoritarianism and political extremism
Upholding democratic norms and institutions
Transparent, accountable governance
Collaborative problem-solving
Putting people before party politics
We get asked this a lot, especially by conservatives who share many traditional Republican values. Here's our answer:
The current Republican Party, dominated by MAGA, has moved away from democratic principles toward authoritarianism. If you support that direction, you should absolutely run as a Republican – that's the intellectually honest choice.
But if you believe in:
Democratic accountability over loyalty to one leader
Constitutional checks and balances
Evidence-based governance over conspiracy theories
Traditional conservative values like fiscal responsibility and limited government
Principles of individual freedom
Or policies focused on solving problems rather than fighting culture wars
...then the Yellowhammer Party gives you a home. We're building something different, not Republican-lite, not Democrat-adjacent, but genuinely independent and focused on what works for Alabama.
For the same reason we don't run as Republicans: party accountability comes with national strings attached.
The Democratic Party, like the Republican Party, is a national organization with expectations, funding streams, and political calculations that often put party interests ahead of Alabama interests. When you run as a Democrat, you're expected to support the national party platform, even on issues where Alabama needs different solutions.
We're building something where your accountability is to voters first, not to party leadership in Washington, Montgomery, or anywhere else. If you're a progressive who wants to focus on healthcare access, education funding, and economic opportunity without being bound to every national Democratic position, Yellowhammer gives you that freedom.
Democrats are welcome in our party, but you're running as an independent problem-solver, not as an arm of the national party apparatus.
The Yellowhammer Party lets candidates run on what works, whether for you that's expanding Medicaid (a "Democratic" idea), supporting nuclear energy (often a "Republican" idea), or improving rural broadband (everyone's idea) without carrying the baggage of national party politics.
Alabama needs problem-solvers committed to democratic values. Whether you're running for school board or state legislature, we support independent candidates who put democracy first.

Yellowhammer Party candidates come from diverse backgrounds with varied policy positions. What unites them is a commitment to democratic governance and solutions-focused leadership.
Trent Ford is a problem-solver with a Master's in Computer Systems and Software Design who applies the same methodical, results-focused approach to policy that he uses in technology.
Running as an Independent with the Yellowhammer Party, Trent embodies the solutocratic principle: evaluating policies by their results, not their party labels. "I'm accountable to God first, then to you, not to some national political party," he says.
As a Christian centrist who rejects MAGA authoritarianism, Trent is focused on practical solutions for District 7: lower power bills through nuclear energy, modernized schools that are not being defunded, expanded rural healthcare access, and smart AI regulation.

We believe in democracy as our primary value. Our candidates hold diverse policy positions, but all commit to democratic norms, evidence-based governance, and collaborative problem-solving. We reject authoritarianism from any direction and focus on solutions over culture wars.
We're anti-authoritarianism. If you support MAGA and the current Republican Party's direction, we're not the right fit – and that's okay. But many traditional conservatives, libertarians, and former Republicans who reject authoritarianism have found a home here. We evaluate candidates by their commitment to democracy, not their past party affiliations.
Democrats are welcome to run with Yellowhammer if they reject authoritarianism (including far-left versions) and focus on solutions over culture wars. We're truly non-partisan – our litmus test is democratic values and solutocratic approach, not where you've been politically.
Neither and both. We welcome candidates and supporters across the political spectrum who reject extremism and embrace democratic values. We evaluate policies by their results, not their labels.
There's a crucial difference between being partisan and having standards. We're not excluding people based on policy disagreements – you can be economically conservative or progressive, hawkish or dovish on foreign policy, pro-business or pro-labor. The line is drawn at authoritarianism and democracy-rejection, not policy positions.
We're a local Alabama party, not a national organization. We don't impose ideological litmus tests beyond commitment to democracy. We prioritize solutocracy – governance based on what actually works for Alabama families.
Absolutely. Disagreement is healthy in democracy. We expect our candidates and supporters to have different views on specific policies while sharing core democratic values. That's what collaboration looks like.
Solutocracy means evaluating policies and ideas by their actual results rather than their party labels or ideological origins. It's governance focused on evidence, outcomes, and practical problem-solving. If something works for Alabama families, we support it – regardless of whether it's traditionally "conservative" or "progressive." (Solutocracy is a system of governance based on solution-oriented decision-making rather than ideological adherence. A Solutocrat is one who practices these principles, a political actor who prioritizes practical solutions over partisan ideology.)
